Some would say I have a propensity to rant. I don't think I would characterize it quite like that, but if a situation arises, or something I see in the news warrants my opinion, I will offer it. You don't even need to ask.My rants are typically short and sweet, but they can be emotionally charged. Much of that ’emotion’ is for effect. I have been blessed with good audiences for my tirades, including an understanding, supportive family, and very tolerant coworkers. I wouldn't say I am encouraged, but I am tolerated.
One day I came to work after having suffered some indignity at the hands of another driver. I announced my arrival with this question: “You know what pisses me off?”
Without hesitation, several of my coworkers answered, in unison, “EVERYTHING!”
That effectively shut down the current rant, and I realized they were right. But right or wrong, I had worked up a good rant, and being unable to simply let it go, I wrote it down. It felt good.
I was beginning to think that my audience for verbal venting was too small anyway, and my brilliant diatribes were soon forgotten. That’s when I decided to start writing them down. This way I hope to share my philosophy with a larger audience, and my stories will live forever.
This collection includes some of those rants, as well as some observations and commentary. It’s a fuzzy line. I’ve covered some important topics, as well as many insignificant, trivial things. I refuse to allow the insignificance of a situation to diminish the intensity of a good rant.
I have included some personal stories from my past. Most people won’t care, but I think my family will enjoy reading about my younger days! My descendents will stumble upon some of my writing, and say, “So that’s what life was like around the turn of the century.”
So, do you know what pisses me off? Yes, everything. But it’s all in fun, and venting is a good thing.
If you think I’m wrong about any of the facts, opinions or ideas I have expressed on these pages, you may rest assured that I am not.Part 1 is a documentary-style piece about my personal encounters with UFOs.
Part 2 covers the rants. Find out what pisses me off and why.
Part 3 is more commentary than rant, less emotionally charged and perhaps more philosophical.
Part 4 is where I will share a few personal stories from my past.
